Joining the Barbarian, Druid, Rogue, and Sorceress will be the Necromancer. Which is getting a pretty big overhaul to change the way the class plays. According to Fergusson and the team, they want players to feel like they’re able to play the Necromancer how they want. With choices like what kind of golems, skeletons, or mages you want to raise to fight alongside you. As well as how those armies fight and what they do for you once risen. Blizzard has also posted its most recent quarterly update on Diablo IV which dives a little deeper into the Necromancer including its playstyles and class features.
Diablo IV will release in 2023 with open-world exploration and cross-play
At the tail-end of last week, pre-registration for the Diablo IV beta went live. Which led people to suspect there would be some sort of announcement at the Xbox showcase on June 12. Sure enough there was, and that included a release window. Diablo IV will officially launch in 2023. It’s still unclear when in 2023 but we’d place our bets on the second half of the year. Aside from the release timing, it was also mentioned that Diablo IV will have open-world exploration, allowing players to pace through the game the way they want. There’s no linear path through the content. Which means you can arrive at the destination how you want to. Diablo IV will also be coming to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S with cross-play and cross-progression. Blizzard has also confirmed that micro transactions in the game will be limited to cosmetic items and future Diablo IV expansions. Which it likely hopes will help it avoid the same backlash it’s been receiving over Diablo Immortal’s use of MTX, which many feel is predatory.
