According to Google, Pixel will be the first-ever presenting partner of the NBA Playoffs. It joins the current NBA Finals “presenting sponsor” YouTube TV in the postseason. Google is also each league’s “Official Search Engine and Search Trends and Fan Insights Partner.” As part of the new multi-year partnership with the NBA, Google will now create “exciting immersive experiences” for fans. The company will combine “Google Search trends, information, technology, devices, and services” for a deeper experience. It will offer insights into search trends “before, during, and after games,” with real-time data throughout the season. Search will also provide NBA-related fun facts to fans. Google will further leverage its 3D and AR technology, as well as other newer features that the Pixel 6 series brings, to help fans feel closer to the action. Be it using a Pixel to take pictures, checking scores and schedules on Search, looking up for your favorite team or player’s jersey Google Shopping, or using Maps to find the most sustainable route to get to the arena, fans will get an immersive experience. This will help them go deeper and get closer to the “culture, teams, and players they love,” the company says.

Google expands its partnership with the NBA ahead of Pixel 6 launch

Google has long sponsored the NBA. It showcased the types of Search trends and insights that it is promising for the upcoming NBA season during the recently-concluded WNBA (Women’s NBA) 2021 season. The company was the Official Trends and Fan Insights Partner of the league. It is now expanding that partnership with the NBA ahead of the Pixel 6 launch. Coincidentally, or maybe intentionally, the Pixel 6 launch event will air just hours before the NBA 2021-22 season tips off. So we might see a demo of these “exciting immersive experiences” that Google is promising alongside the new phones later today. Perhaps some post-launch Pixel 6 ads promoting these AR experiences as well. The company does say that it will showcase exciting new Pixel camera features during a special Opening Night NBA on TNT Tip-Off pregame show in the evening. As said earlier, the Pixel Fall Launch event will air at 10 AM PT/1 pm ET today. You’ll be able to stream the pre-recorded event on YouTube as well as the official Pixel announcement page. We will also be covering all the latest and greatest happenings at the event here on Android Headlines. So stay tuned.
