Paying $7 to $9 per month for the ad-supported subscription might seem like a good deal when Netflix’s “Basic” plan, without HD streaming, starts at $10 per month. You can also pay $15.49 monthly for a standard subscription that includes no commercials. Also, showing an excessive amount of ads is one of the greatest drawbacks of ad-supported or free tiers. As per the report, Netflix wants to change the user’s perception of ad-supported subscriptions by showing only four minutes of advertising per hour of content streaming. Moreover, the company won’t show any ads at the end of a show or movie.

Netflix will soon start rolling out its ad-supported subscription

Bloomberg also says that Netflix kid’s content or original movies will include no advertising. Also, with the new tier, Netflix may ditch support for offline viewing. The Netflix new tier will target half a dozen markets before the end of 2022. The company will also roll out the plan to more markets in 2023. Before getting too excited about the new tier, you need to know that not all of the Netflix licensed content will be part of this plan as the company is amending some of its content licenses with different studios. Also, the plan might not let you download videos. While sources seem confident about Netflix’s ad-supported tier, the company shared a statement with The Verge, saying the news is “all just speculation at this point.” Netflix also said they’re “still in the early days of deciding how to launch a lower priced, ad-supported tier, and no decisions have been made.” An ad-supported subscription will help Netflix users access their favorite shows and content at a much lower price. It can also stoke interest in subscription plans and prevent users from leaving the platform. According to the latest fiscal report by the company, over 1 million subscribers are gone, and in the first three months of the year, they faced a 200,000-member decline.
