You see, this handset got announced in Japan, as many of you probably already guessed. Therefore, if you don’t live in Japan, it’s out of your reach. Chances are we won’t see the device reach more markets, though you never know.

The Sharp AQUOS R7 includes a 1” camera sensor, Leica Lumicron lens & 240Hz display

The device includes a flat display with a centered display camera hole. Its bezels are quite thin, though the bottom one is slightly thicker than the rest. It has an interesting-looking camera island on the back, and interesting camera hardware as well. The main camera here is a 47.2-megapixel sensor (f/1.9 aperture, EIS), and we’re looking at a Leica Sumicron lens on top of it. It’s a 1-inch sensor, and it’s quite interesting from the hardware perspective. It has a high-speed AF function. The second camera on the back is a 1.9-megapixel (Low Light) ToF unit for portrait mode. A single 12.6-megapixel camera (f/2.3 aperture) sits on the phone’s front side. A 6.6-inch 2730 x 1260 IGZO OLED display is included here, with a 240Hz refresh rate. This display offers an adaptive refresh rate, so it goes from 1 to 240Hz as needed to save battery life.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC fuels the phone, while you’re getting 12GB of RAM

The rest of the specs are also high-end here, well, most of them. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC fuels this smartphone. The phone includes 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 flash storage. You can even expand its storage via a microSD card (up to 1TB). Android 12 comes pre-installed on the phone, and the device supports Bluetooth 5.2. 5G connectivity is also supported here, while an in-display fingerprint scanner is included. This is Qualcomm’s 3D Sonic Max fingerprint scanner by the way.

It has a large battery, and comes in two colors

The Sharp AQUOS R7 is IPX5/IPX8/IP6X certified (water and dust proof), while a 5,000mAh battery sits on the inside. The phone does support fast wired charging, but we don’t know the exact speed of it. This handset comes in Black and Silver colors, both of which you can check out in the provided images. It will become available in July in Japan, through NTT Docomo and Softbank (local carriers).
