The first video goes through the evolution of One UI from the days of One UI 2. The company also discusses some of the user feedback and explains how it has helped shape One UI 4. “Your Galaxy. Your Way,” as Samsung puts it. The company then moves on to how color schemes are changing with the new UI, including the grouping of similar colors. Samsung claims this will allow users to “focus in a more intuitive way” (via).
The company is introducing emoji pairs with One UI 4
Samsung briefly touches on Android 12’s Material You elements, with dynamic theming of the system based on the wallpaper. Widgets on One UI 4 will have rounded corners, while the company will also bring dark mode to app icons. New to One UI 4 is something known as Emoji pairs, allowing users to stack one emoji over the other in a chat window. Towards the end of the video, Samsung discusses One UI Book 4, designed for the company’s Galaxy Book series. The idea here is to bridge the gap between your laptop and phone by using identical UI elements and icons. The second introduction video is a recap of the things discussed in the first. But it goes into deeper detail about some other features. The default One UI 4 photo editor is getting some significant upgrades as well. The company also details how files can be easily shared between your One UI 4 and One UI Book devices using Quick Share. There’s an emphasis on the term “ecosystem,” with appearances from the Galaxy Watch 4 as well as the Galaxy Buds 2. The video closes off with fitness-related features and some minor tweaks to Samsung Health. The videos offer us a preview of One UI 4 ahead of a stable release. The beta is currently available for the Galaxy S21, which could be the first to get the stable version of One UI 4. There’s no official timeframe available for the update’s release. However, we expect it to be available by December. Although the Galaxy S21 will be the first in line for this update, other Galaxy devices may have to wait until the first few months of 2022.
