The Android 13-based One UI 5.0 update for the 5G-enabled Galaxy Tab S8, Galaxy Tab S8+, and Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra comes with the firmware version X*06BXXU2BVK4 in Europe (via). Samsung is seeding the latest security patch as well, i. e. the November SMR (Security Maintenance Release) that patches over 60 vulnerabilities. But this update is mainly about One UI 5.0 based on the latest version of Android. It brings a revamped UI, new features, performance improvements, and more.
The Galaxy Tab S8 series gets Android 13 and One UI 5.0
Starting with the UI redesign, Samsung has made the app icons bolder with subtle background gradients and improved contrast. The quick settings panel and system settings get minor changes and reorganizations. System animations and blur effects have also been improved for a smoother user experience. You also now have more customization options, with Samsung letting you easily change your wallpaper, clock style, notification settings, and more from the lock screen. You can set a different call background for each contact as well. With improved Bixby Routines and modes, your Galaxy tablet will be able to do more things automatically than before. You can automate various tasks that you frequently repeat around the same time every day, such as putting the phone on silent in the office. Smart widgets allow you to use the phone’s homescreen more efficiently to get the best out of it. Controlling or managing connected devices is also easier than ever. And if you use Samsung DeX, there are a few notable improvements there as well, including an enhanced taskbar and a new notification indicator. One UI 5.0 also brings new photo, video, and editing features. Other highlights include improved stock apps, new accessibility features, new AR Emoji features and stickers, more control over notifications, and improved privacy and security. All of these changes and improvements will roll out to 5G-enabled Galaxy Tab S8, Galaxy Tab S8+, and Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra users over the next few days. As always, you can check for updates from the Settings app. Your tablet should also automatically tell you when the update is available for you. Stay tuned for Android 13 updates for other eligible Samsung devices.
