The report comes from 9To5Google and supports rumors from earlier this year that Fitbit may be going back to physical buttons. The capacitive button on its Sense and Versa 3 smartwatches was not well-liked by some users. So it makes a whole lot of sense that Fitbit would want to revert that design choice. And judging by the leaked regulatory images that’s exactly what Fitbit has done. The images also show that Fitbit has made some other design updates. It now appears that the sensor used for interacting with the ECG app has been moved. It now looks like it’s been integrated under the display as opposed to being part of the case itself.

The Fitbit Sense 2 button design is also on the Versa 4

Fitbit’s other smartwatch offering, the Versa line, is getting some design adjustments as well. The Versa 4 looks to be coming with the same overall design as the Sense 2, with Fitbit having removed the capacitive button and replaced it with a physical one. It does look like the Versa 4 will remove the ECG and temperature tracking sensor though. Also not a surprise given that the Versa 3 didn’t include it either while the original Sense did. Aside from the missing sensor, the rest of the watch looks mostly the same. There seems to be a mic on the bottom for Google Assistant interactions. And Fitbit is keeping the same style of charger. You can see the magnetic charging pins on the bottom of the tracker to indicate this. The size of both trackers also looks relatively unchanged from their previous versions. And naturally Fitbit will be using the same style of silicone sports bands that came with the Sense and Versa 3. Though, there will no doubt be additional bands or straps that customers will be able to buy which are made from different materials.
